How to Make a Stand

My schooler was being bullied by his one of his classmates. The boy kept on messing with my kid’s things like getting his pencils or write on his notebooks, he already lost a lot that I tied  strings on his pencils so these will not be misplaced. We talked to the teacher about it and asked for the parents, but the parents didn’t show up. The boy is really a headache. What the teacher did was seated him at the back of the room away from my child. But he kept on coming to my schooler.

This time I taught my kid to make a stand for his rights, I told him if any of his classmates messed up his stuffs, shout at them at the top of his voice and say to them “don’t touch my things or my momma will come here and report you to the office (principal’s)!”. He was apprehensive that if the teacher heard him shout he will be reprimanded.” No”, I told him, because the teacher will know that you did that because if they are bullying you, if you will not stop them then they will continue what they are doing to you, as long as you don’t start a fight or hurt anybody, you are good. I even let him practice how to shout. lol..

And when he came home from school after that, he was very happy that the boy who took his pencil returned it back to him, when he did what I told him to do. I think he is starting to gain his self-confidence after that incident. Before, he will just stay quiet or cry when other kids messed up his stuffs, maybe that’s the reason why this kid kept bullying him.

A Gratitude to the Teachers

Teaching is the profession that teaches all the other professions.  ~Author Unknown

A Teacher is considered to be the second parent of the child while in school. Parents trust their child to be in good hands with the care of their teacher.  And as a teacher they are expected to educate the child, to mold and develop his/her potentials to become a good citizen and/or be the next leader of a nation, to learn the value of respect and be respected.

We know that it is not  an easy task to handle so many children in one classroom, when we as parents sometimes lost our patience when our child become unruly or stubborn and very hard to discipline. There’s a saying “If you don’t love children you don’t belong in this job” because it will take a lot of  understanding and tolerance to deal with children. Hence it is regarded as a noble and selfless profession.
